Clayton Hospitality partners with NL Housing and NL Heath Services to provide temporary transitional supportive living accommodation

Clayton Hospitality is proud to announce a new partnership with the provincial government, NL Housing and NL Heath Services to provide accommodation and hospitality support for our community members in need. In a three-year lease, our building at 106 Airport Road will transition to welcome new guests seeking permanent housing solutions.

Transitional supportive living provides temporary accommodations with wrap-around supports for individuals who are experiencing homelessness, with the goal of fostering transition to independent permanent housing. Our team of staff and management have provided similar services in the past when we have welcomed Ukrainians and other newcomers to our hotels for longer term, temporary stays.

The layout of our building, and the expertise and skills of our valued staff uniquely positions us to offer solutions during this crisis. As members of our communities face challenges in healthcare and housing, we can provide support, safety and comfort to those most in need.

Our province’s housing crisis is complex and the needs of those seeking housing solutions are diverse. In this new partnership, Clayton Hospitality will provide our core services: accommodation and food services. Hotel staff will be joined by a combination of community-based staff, security and health care professionals.

Our team and management will work in collaboration with our partners from the provincial government, healthcare, and NL housing to ensure the needs of the guests are met while all staff are supported and secure. We anticipate a great degree of cooperation to ensure a smooth transition and are excited to launch this new partnership.

We are committed to continuing open communication with all staff and union representatives to provide all necessary support during this transition.

The property at 106 Airport Road will not be available to the public for reservation after mid-February 2024. We recognize this may cause inconvenience to our valued guests with existing reservations. We commit to working with you and for you to assist with rescheduling or finding other solutions.

Other Clayton Hospitality properties – the Quality Hotel in Clarenville and the Comfort Inn in Gander – will continue to operate as usual.

We are proud to offer support in this time of crisis. As we navigate this transition, we are grateful to our staff, team members, partners, and guests for their patience and understanding. Together, we can all be part of a solution for those most in need.
